Sail on down dreamboats!.... for a brand new KING, SWING N THING cabaret/Open Mic night and a Drag King workshop so hot it'll put hairs on your chest!

Our Debut show falls right between Wolfys Birthday and Halloween. We love Cowboys and we love getting spooky so rather than squabble between ourselves...we compromised.

Its everyone's two favourite themes smashed chaotically into one! With a side of cake!

So! Put your gladrags on, roll yourself in rhinestones, cut the butt out of your mom's best jeans, start to feel hot, slowly lose consciousness, wake up 7hours later with an insatiable appetite for brains, claw the guts out of you neighbour Pam and use her intestines as a cute belt….AND MOSEY ON DOWN TO THE BEST APOCALYPTIC BIRTHDAY PARTY IN THE WILD WILD (north)WEST!!

Canal Street Kings is a brand new Drag King cabaret and open mic night in the heart of Manchester's Gay Village.

3 of Manchester's Mightiest Monarchs have shacked up at The Cockatoo Club to bring you a night of entertainment centering and celebrating the Rainy City's rich Drag King history and making space for the new community to meet, grow and perform.

The night will consist of a Cabaret featuring guest performers from the local community and the national drag scene and an open mic section for performers of all disciplines and experience levels to try out new works or works in progress on the stage.

Poets, comedians, musicians, dancers, clowns etc anything goes. We very much encourage new Drag Kings, things and swing performers to take up these opportunities.

Times and Tickets info:

Workshop: 18.00 - 18.45

A 40 minute masterclass hosted by experienced Drag Performers aimed to pass down key skills and resources to new kings wanting to master their craft.

Workshop 1: Fast Track Facial Hair

A Beard and Moustache Masterclass focusing on crepe hair effects.

Materials Provided.

*Tickets Limited to 15. Available on a first come first served basis. 

**Workshop tickets include free entrance to the Cabaret afterwards.

Cabaret/Open Mic Show: 18.45 - 19.00

Doors at 18.45. Show starts promptly at 19.15

General admission is free or pay what you can.

*Open mic slots are  limited to 5 per show and available on a first come first served basis. They are free but must be booked in advance as an extra to your cabaret ticket.

** Performances must be kept to 5 minutes max.
