About the Event

It's South Asian Heritage Month from July 18th to August 17th, what better way to celebrate the richness of South Asian cultures than cooking and consuming some cracking good food together!

As part of our #GreenWithPride series, LGBT Foundation is hosting a CookOUT at The Proud Place, home to Rainbow Noir! Complete with hands-on workshops provided by Kala from Cracking Good Food, making traditional South Indian cuisine and debut performances from South Asian and Middle Eastern diasporic collective, House of Spice!

This will be an environmentally friendly event for all to cook, create, connect, consume, celebrate & center our LGBTQI+ South Asian friends & family together!

All ingredients, equipment and aprons will be provided. Allergens will be highlighted

Dish 1: Nan in the pan (workshop activity)

Dish 2: Dhal

Dish 3: Rice

Dish 4: Seasonal salad (Chana chaat; a tasty, tangy salad made with white chickpeas, spices, herbs, onions, tomatoes and lemon.)

This event will center QTIPoC = (Queer/Questioning, Trans, Intersex, People of Colour) but everybody is welcome to attend to celebrate community and culture!

Feel free to bring your own pre-cooked dishes to share, but please clearly label ingredients and allergens! The Proud Place is an alcohol-free venue with step-free access, gender-neutral accessible toilet facilities, and many quiet spaces if needed. The cooking portion of the event will finish at 4:30pm, but the centre will be open for further connection and chill until 5:30pm.

By attending this event you agree to adhere to our Safer Spaces Policy.
